Learn all about Skincare Routine and Sequence

Dos and don'ts - can a wrong order mean that your products don't work? Figuring out what's right and wrong when it comes to figuring out what order to use your skin care products can be pretty confusing. But fortunately there is a way for that.

You should always start by using your facial cleanser so that you prepare the skin to accept new products. A cleanser or facial cleanser to make sure you have removed  all fats and dead skin cells. Possibly followed by a toner or mist. You should then put the order together so that you use your water-based products (this will often be a serum) followed by your oil-based products (this can also often be a serum). The oil has the function of protecting and sealing your skin barrier, so that moisture is kept in and impurities are kept out.

It can therefore also prevent water-based products from penetrating the skin - which is obviously not optimal. Therefore: if there is oil in it = use as the penultimate step. As the last step, you must use your night cream.
Although the skin care routine below consists of 4 steps, you can easily expand with more products or settle for less. These steps simply illustrate the order in which you should use your products.

Summary - step by step

It should be said that at Bio-Vitae we only work with evening routines as a starting point.

It is at night. that the skin is exposed to the least stress. Everything we develop is to create new skin cells and reduce signs of aging, and the skin is most at ease at night.

But in short:

1: Cleanse

Evening: Cleanse your skin thoroughly every night and remove any make-up. As impurities accumulate on the skin during the day, it is important that you remove dead skin cells and clean out your pores. When the pores in the skin are blocked, they expand, and this increases the risk of getting pimples. This can be done to great advantage with a cleanser that really makes the skin clean and bacteria-free.

Morning: If you cleanse your skin thoroughly every night, you can settle for a light and refreshing cleanse in the morning.

2: Corrective Care

After you have peeled your skin, we come to the step in your skin care routine where you can work on getting control of your skin problems, preventing or simply improving the condition of the skin. Corrective skin care can come in many guises – serum, toner, mist, cream, etc. The most important thing is to go for content that has a positive effect on exactly your skin problem/desire.

We recommend you use a serum and possibly more than one as they have different effects.

Always start with something that gives more skin cells. There is actually only one serum that has its role there. Namely Retinol serum. Put 2-3 drops on the face or the places that need treatment. There is no need to let the serum come out on the hands first. Break the pipette to drip on the desired areas. Then massage with your fingers until the serum is completely absorbed into the skin.

See possibly our webshop for Retinol serums.

Then wait 5-10 minutes to let the serum work and penetrate and set.

3: Moisture

Then you use a serum that binds liquid in the skin. Here we recommend a good hyaluronic serum as a good choice.

Moisture is not only reserved for dry skin – all skin types need moisture. In fact, oily skin can in some cases be caused by the skin being dehydrated and therefore trying to compensate for the lack of moisture by producing more oil.

Moisture-binding ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or sodium PCA are at the top of their class for binding more moisture to your skin.

We recommend our Hyaluron serum with a whopping 5%, but we also have other alternatives.

A serum is a product that is built up much more molecularly than a cream.

This means that it is absorbed further into the skin and has a much stronger effect.

After you have cleansed your skin and removed all protection and applied a series of serums, the skin is very open and susceptible to bacteria and other things. This is why we recommend cleansing the skin in the evening.

4: Sealing

When you have added moisture to the skin, it is important to seal the skin's barrier so that the moisture is retained inside the skin. Here, the moisture helps, among other things, to keep your skin soft, supple and smooth. If the skin is dry, wrinkles and fine lines will become more visible. The skin can be sealed effectively with a good face cream.

In the morning it is important that you protect the skin with a face cream that contains sun protection - both because the sun's UV rays break down skin cells, but in particular because they are also carcinogenic.

In the evening you can use a face cream that contains some of the active ingredients that are less suitable under the daytime sun rays.

Here it is important that you find a good night cream with some good values.

In our Retinol cream we have 2.5% Retinol and 1% Hyaruron.

Try our Hydrogenated Retinol 2.5%, which is gentle on all skin types.
